The Challenge

Without changing the existing 4 walls and adding additional square footage, we were brought in to enlarge the existing functioning space of the primary bath. The homeowners requested a larger shower, a dedicated space for the Mrs., and ample storage for both. The removal of the oversized, corner soaking tub allowed us the space we needed to create a shower over double the previous size and provide a 3rd vanity station for the Mrs. All of this was achieved while keeping a private commode room and an oversized dual vanity with a large built-in corner linen tower for additional storage needs.

Special Selections, Materials & Techniques Used:

Aura Earth 12×24 was selected as the main floor tile. The soft grey hue with subtle texture and movement, installed on a 45 degree angle, was the perfect base for the classic aesthetic these homeowners wished to create.

Poplar cabinetry stained in the color of Bayou brought contrast and richness to the lighter surrounding hues. Full overlay and 5 piece doors and decorative drawer fronts continued the traditional yet updated look brought from our previous kitchen remodel. A showstopping Moscavo Quartzite slab was selected and used on both the countertops and all horizontal surfaces within the shower to bring continuity and functionality. The rich taupe and cool blue tones throughout the stone compliment both the soft tile flooring and elegant cabinetry.

The new layout provided the opportunity for the oversized shower to be a focal point as soon as you entered the space. We were careful to select classic, timeless tiles that still provided a wow factor that this space deserved, however would not compete with the other items in the room. A Casablanca Marble shower pan tile in a basketweave pattern was chosen to add a timeless elegance. The walls were wrapped in Ainslee Park Calcutta Gold 12×24 to continue the movement and color of the shower pan tile but provide additional lightness in the space. The larger format tile is also a favorite among our homeowners to minimize grout lines for ease of cleaning.

A decorative vertical waterfall tile was chosen to run from ceiling to pan, down the main shower-head wall. The selected tile was Trysta Belle Cornerstone Collection and was the perfect choice to add extra interest, while still keeping the neutral and classic color palette. Moen Weymouth plumbing fixtures in Oil Rubbed Bronze were installed throughout the space and the rich metal tone complimented the cabinetry color beautifully.

This finish was also used in the (6) sconces placed within the custom mirrors and the chandelier with crystal accents. Satin Nickel handles, Chareau Collection by Top Knobs, were placed on the cabinetry for added brightness and contrast and a totally custom look. We love when homeowners aren’t afraid to mix it up! Lastly, Sherwin Williams Gray Screen was the perfect paint selection to provide a warm gray with a slight blue undertone to pull the beautiful tones from the tile and countertops all together. Isn’t this En Suite dreamy?

Hall Bath w/ double vanity:

Dark Espresso stained cabinetry, capped with a bold and vibrant Romanix granite instantly gave life to this previously boring hall bath. A 12×24 tile floor was chosen to give the illusion that the space had become larger, Alustra Majestic White Lasa. Classically beautiful Pfister Tisbury faucets in a Nickel tone provides the brightness needed to stand out from the countertop. Delacora decorative mirrors were placed above each sink in an aged silver to continue the elegance the plumbing fixtures have. Satin Nickel pulls, Serene Collection by Top Knobs were installed to provide contrast off the dark toned cabinetry.

Lastly, Anew Gray by Sherwin Williams was the paint color we had chosen during the previous kitchen remodel for the entire first floor, and the homeowners liked it so much, we thought why not bring it into this space! We love the way our homeowners have styled the space, don’t you?
