The Challenge

Making an addition look like it was always a part of the home- which can be a challenge for both interior and exterior design and material selections, a challenge we find to be the most rewarding aspect of our profession when done properly.

Special Selections, Materials and Techniques used:

The addition from an exterior perspective and the Kitchen on this project are the areas we want to highlight.

With a single car garage addition and a primary bedroom addition above, these new spaces included extra square footage within the existing Kitchen. Lacking the ability to host and entertain the way they hoped to, due to a small island and tight dimensions moving throughout the kitchen, these homeowners were eager to amplify their Kitchen design by including an 8’ island, an abundance of new storage cabinetry, and a spacious layout that flows nicely enabling them to host their large family and friends.

The homeowners wanted classic, timeless, and durable finishes, which lead us to select soft-toned Poplar stained cabinetry in a medium brown with ash undertones, Bayou by Aspect. Venetian Quartz countertops were chosen to provide lightness and durability.

A 3” mitered edge was installed around the island to ensure a soft statement is made- we love this choice! Utilizing their existing hardwood floors and tying in new where needed, a custom blended stain was created with a matte finish to enhance the beautiful and timeless look throughout the space. We love the contrast against the cabinetry and the subtle caramel tones it pulls from the countertops! As you may have picked up on, these homeowners love to host, therefor a separate dry bar/buffet space was a necessity.

We wanted this space to have its own identity, so while the cabinetry and countertops are the same, a metallic 4” x 9” gold backsplash by Soho was selected to set it apart from the main kitchen, which received a more subtle, 3” x 9” Topcu Wooden White Marble backsplash tile- both stunning in their own right! Brushed Nickel plumbing was selected to coordinate with the appliances, and with the desire to add soft pops of glamour, gorgeous Z lighting Glacier 19” Modern Gold Pendants were hung over the island.

The scale and texture of these are stunning. Amerock Golden Champagne cabinet hardware bring those elements together, and truly make this kitchen one of a kind. We’ve already heard great feedback from these homeowners after they hosted several large holiday gatherings, and they couldn’t be happier!

We just completed our second project with Creative Contracting, and we couldn't be happier! After a great experience with our first project, a bathroom addition on our second floor, we decided to select Creative again for our home extension and remodel. This was a much larger scale project, and Rick, Joe, Mark, Lauren, and the entire team surpassed our expectations yet again. From architectural design to interior design/selections to construction quality, everything was handled professionally. Most of all, I appreciate each person's passion in ensuring that our vision was coming to life along the way. No matter any small hiccup, the team was always there to make sure we were satisfied with the outcome. Thank you Creative for once again leaving us with an extension and remodel that we enjoy everyday!
