Project Summary: “Settling Down”
Creative Contracting was hired to design and build an outdoor entertaining area that would provide a place for our Homeowners to relax and unwind. An inspirational picture was provided that included an open-air covered porch, stone fireplace, and a concrete patio/ grilling area. After several design reviews, a plan was created that encompassed all the requested amenities.
The Challenge
The challenges overcome during this build started with the grade and elevation of the rear yard. Our next challenge was the design goal to create privacy without blocking the amazing sunset views. Other project challenges included: elevated concrete slabs in a yard with steep grade, code compliance for wood/gas fireplaces, weather, material availability, and the seamless transition from traditional material selections to a more rustic design. In the end, each of these challenges were overcome and our clients could not be happier with the results.
Special Selections / Materials / Techniques:
Material selections for this project included: Eastern Weathered Fieldstone with matching ½ Columns and Rockcast caps, 42” Majestic Castlewood Fireplace, Herringbone Refractory, Custom Concrete Mantel, Allen Block retaining walls, Decorative Concrete, 1×6 Tongue & Groove Pine Ceiling with matching Pine Beams, Lotus LED recess lighting, and painted Redwood/Cedar trim.
