Whole-Home & Kitchen Remodel in Mason, OH
This project was an entire 1st floor and exterior pool area renovation that was 14 years in the making. The family of 4 was bursting at the seams and ready to transform their home to fit their lifestyle and love of entertainment. Removing a wall and transitioning a rarely used dining room into a large, open concept kitchen was the catalyst for this project’s transformation.
The Challenge
This approved design presented numerous structural and mechanical challenges. The wall we proposed to remove between the existing Kitchen and Dining Room was load bearing and contained plumbing, electric, and HVAC. The client wanted a flush beam which meant each of these items had to be relocated. The decision was made early on to convert the existing Laundry room into a working pantry and move the Laundry to the 2nd Floor. Although these decisions created challenges for our trades, the final result was worth the extra effort.

Fourteen years ago, when we bought our home, my husband and I made a promise to each other: we would renovate our kitchen before our kids graduated from high school. Two weeks before our daughter’s graduation party, that promise became a reality. As the wife of a remodeling contractor, I’ve spent years hearing about the challenges of home renovations. I thought I knew what to expect. However, living through a major renovation gave me an entirely new appreciation for what clients experience. It’s exciting, emotional, sometimes overwhelming, and yes, there are moments of inconvenience. Our kitchen was the center of our home, so giving it up for several months wasn’t easy. From the very beginning, the Creative Contracting team asked us to “Trust the Process.” Looking back, I’m so glad we did. Debi challenged us to think beyond the ideas we had carried around for years. She introduced design concepts we had never considered, and her suggestions ended up becoming some of our favorite features of the new kitchen. Lauren was incredible throughout the selections process. She kept us organized, answered countless questions, and gave us the confidence to make decisions that sometimes felt overwhelming. Her guidance made what could have been a stressful experience enjoyable. And the craftsmanship was simply outstanding. Travis, Adam, AJ, and Ian treated our home as if it were their own. They were professional, respectful, detail-oriented, and took obvious pride in their work. A renovation like ours was a significant investment, and there were temporary disruptions to our daily routines. However, when you have a team that genuinely cares about the outcome—and about the people they’re serving—those temporary inconveniences are far outweighed by the overall experience and the final results. Today, we have a kitchen that exceeds anything we imagined 14 years ago. More importantly, we have a space where our family will gather, celebrate holidays, and create memories for years to come. If you’re considering a remodeling project, my advice is simple: trust the process. We did, and we couldn’t be happier with the journey or the outcome. Thank you, Creative Contracting, for helping us fulfill a promise that was 14 years in the making.

Special Selections, Materials& Techniques used
Designed with both everyday living and entertaining in mind, this kitchen remodel blends timeless craftsmanship with warm, sophisticated finishes. Rich stained cabinetry is balanced by soft painted accents, while expansive Quartz surfaces and custom architectural details create a space that feels both luxurious and welcoming.
At the heart of the kitchen, a 10-foot island topped with Brandenburg Quartz and an upgraded 3” mitered edge comfortably seats six beneath a striking 57” burnished brass linear pendant, making it the perfect gathering place for family and friends. A 60” custom light antiqued black iron range hood serves as the room’s focal point, complemented by full-height Quartz backsplashes and carefully selected lighting that adds warmth throughout the space. A 24” fluted champagne glass chandelier in bronze hangs above the kitchen table and (2) 20” Tristan Sconces from Visual Comfort in dual toned bronze and burnished brass frame the bar window. Plumbing fixtures are both elegant and functional for this family home. Composite sinks by Blanco in Truffle and stainless faucets from the Signature Hardware Greyfield collection were selected, complimenting the Emtek Jasper Collection cabinet hardware in satin nickel. The mixing of metals and cabinetry tones was done thoughtfully to create a timeless and inviting palette without feeling trendy or overdone.
Just beyond the main kitchen, the custom wet bar creates a seamless transition to outdoor living. Featuring a pass-through awning window overlooking the pool, beverage refrigerator, wine storage, an enclosed coffee cabinet, and elegant display cabinetry with burnished brass metal mesh, it’s designed to make entertaining effortless while maximizing natural light and views.
From the wire-brushed Ash flooring to the custom cabinetry and handcrafted finishes, every detail was selected to create a home that feels elevated, inviting, and built to be enjoyed for years to come.
Not just a kitchen remodel, the former laundry room also got an upgrade. The now dual use mudroom and pantry is found through a custom stained door to match the Bayou cabinetry with fluted glass for added interest and privacy. With ample storage created in oversized pantry cabinets, complete with roll outs for small kitchen appliances, a custom charging drawer, and a linen cabinet for coats and shoes, all needs were considered when transitioning this space. A drop zone countertop space in the same Brandenburg Quartz as the kitchen was thoughtfully considered for consistency.
The Family Room was also part of the project, receiving the same hardwood flooring throughout and new built-ins, after careful removal of portions of the existing extended fireplace hearth. These built-in’s were custom made and painted to match the Soft Suede accent cabinetry within the kitchen. The existing fireplace and brick surround remained, but a new mantel was custom stained to match the Bayou cabinetry elsewhere. Decorative picture lighting from Arhaus were installed above each bookcase, for additional lighting layers and interest.
Lastly, the 1st floor powder room was completed. Small in size but rich in character, this powder bath was thoughtfully designed to make a lasting impression. The warm Bayou-stained vanity is topped with striking Taj Mahal Quartzite, whose natural movement brings softness and elegance to the space. Luxe Gold plumbing fixtures by Brizo and warm bronze accents introduce subtle sophistication, while the bronze-framed mirror and Champagne Bronze lighting create a cohesive, layered design.
The room’s true focal point is the nature-inspired wallpaper, wrapping the walls in a calming botanical pattern that transforms the powder bath into a warm, inviting retreat. Paired with the same wire-brushed ash flooring found throughout the home, every finish was selected to create continuity while giving this space its own distinct personality.
Proof that a powder bath can be every bit as memorable as the home’s larger living spaces, this design blends timeless materials with thoughtful details to create a room guests won’t soon forget.
